17 - 4 PH

Except for the presence of trace amounts of copper, aluminium, phosphorus, or titanium, PH alloys are similar to other stainless steel and nickel-based alloys. After forming a part from a PH alloy, it is subjected to an age-hardening process, during which these elements precipitate as hard intermetallic compounds, significantly increasing the hardness and strength of the part.

PH 17-4 Stainless steel is a martensitic precipitation-hardening steel that combines exceptional strength, corrosion resistance, good mechanical properties at temperatures up to 600 °F (316 °C), toughness in both the base metal and welds, and quick, low-temperature heat treatments that minimise warpage and scaling.

Typical Mechanical Properties :

AK Steel17-4PH Stainless Steel provides excellent mechanical properties. For applications requiring high strength and hardness plus corrosion resistance, this alloy is an outstanding choice. In addition,it is more cost effective than many high-nickel,non-ferrous alloys.
