The non-magnetic nature of Grade 904L allows it to be used in applications where magnetic activity is not required, such as in MRI machines.Other advantageous characteristics of the 904L include its excellent formability, improved toughness, and good weldability, to name a few. Grade 904L stainless steel can be welded using all conventional methods and does not require pre-heating or post-welding heat treatments. Grade 904L stainless steel is also corrosion resistant. AISI 904L is a high alloy low carbon austenitic stainless steel with good general corrosion resistance. EN 1.4539 is fully austenitic but is less sensitive to precipitation of sigma phase than conventional austenitic grades with high molybdenum content.
