In seawater and other chloride-containing environments, stainless steel grade F55 is very resistant to pitting and crevice corrosion. It has a critical pitting temperature of more than 50 °C (122 °F), which makes it very resistant to these types of corrosion. People also say this material is strong and has a long life. Grade 316 steel is 10% lighter than grade 316 steel.It's good for sub-zero service, and it's cheaper than the nickel alloys. Stainless steel grade F55 is easy to machine and weld.
