A nickel-iron-chromium alloy called Carpenter 20, called Alloy 20, was made to be the most resistant to acid attack, especially sulfuric acid. Alloy 20 is also called Carpenter 20. In chemicals that contain chlorides, sulfuric, phosphoric, and nitric acids, this superalloy is very resistant to corrosion in general, as well as pitting, crevice corrosion, and corrosion in small places. It also has niobium in it to keep it from becoming sensitive and causing intergranular corrosion.
